キー配列パソコンやワープロのキーボードの配置。なぜ「ABCDEFG…」または「あいうえおかきくけこ…」とならなんでいないのでしょうか。しかしあの打ちにくい配置には理由があります。かつてはタイプライターで使われていましたが、余りに速く打つことができてしまうと足が絡まってしまうためにわざと打鍵速度が遅くなる配置になっているのです。その名残として今も同様の配置が使われています。ホームポジションに母音がないのはそのせいです。また、一番上の段だけで「type writer(タイプライター)」と打つことが出来るように、という意味もあるようです。

なぜエジプトは砂漠化してしまったのかエジプトは、ナイル川の岸辺のごく一部を残して、乾燥しきった国土をもつ国だ。しかし、かつてこの土地には、世界で最も豊かな農業国家が栄えていた。この富を顕示しようとしたのがピラミッド建設。ところが、このピラミッド建設が緑豊かな国土をカラカラの乾燥地にかえてしまった。ピラミッドの建設には、とにかく膨大な木材が必要だった。石を切り出すのに、まず岩の上で木を燃やして岩を熱し、ここに水をかけて急速に冷やしてヒビを入れていた。岩の運搬にも、木材をテコにして使用していた。その結果、さしも豊かな森林資源も枯渇してしまい、森林がなくなると、雨が降っても地中に水分をためこむことができなくなり、急速に大地は乾燥していった。

現金(お金)とは？現金 (げんきん) とは、一般には現金通貨のことを指す。現金通貨とは強制通用力を有する貨幣のことで、現在の日本を例に挙げれば日本銀行券と政府発行の補助貨幣がそれにあたる。「現金」という言葉が用いられる場面には次のようなものがある。①「預金通貨」に対して、現に貨幣として存在している通貨を指す場合②振り込みやクレジットカードなどによる「預金決済」に対して、現に貨幣を用いて行う決済を指す場合③「預金」「有価証券」「固定資産」などに対して、現に貨幣として保有している資産を指す場合 一般的にはキャッシュ、お金とも呼ばれる。
